Program Eligibility

Program Eligibility

Tacoma Housing Authority has three different programs that help house people. Each of these programs have slightly different requirements for eligibility.

Our three main programs:

Housing Opportunity Program
Have the freedom to move where you want in Tacoma Housing's area. Work-able households can use the HOP voucher for five years to help pay their rent on the private rental market. Elderly and disabled tenents have no time limit.

Public Housing Program

We own and manage a number of housing properties throughout Tacoma for clients to live in.

Housing Choice Voucher

Formerly known at Section 8. We help people pay for housing they find and rent from private owners. THA no longer issues Housing Choice Vouchers.

Income Limits (2019)

The Department of Housing and Urban Development sets income limits to determine who is eligible for housing programs. Below is a table to help know if you qualify for help. Being outside the income limit does not automatically disqualify you, please contact us to learn more about eligiblity.
